Caffeine during pregnancy

For every 100 mg of caffeine, the birth weight would drop 21 to 28 grams, according to Swedish researchers. 

Caffeine passes through the placenta to the child. It is not yet entirely clear what effect this will have. It is thought that caffeine would cause the blood vessels between the uterus and placenta to contract more, causing less blood to reach the baby. Another reasoning is that caffeine would inhibit a substance that stimulates the growth of the baby. Caffeine was also previously thought to increase the risk of miscarriage or premature birth. No link has emerged from the research.

We all knew that caffeine affects yourself, but that caffeine also affects your unborn baby is not known to everyone. Caffeine can ensure that your baby is born with low birth weight and must experience all the consequences. It is therefore strongly recommended to watch your caffeine intake per day and keep it to a minimum.
